OUR STORY: A Full Circle Journey
The allure of McGregor captivated owners Amelia and Jan from their very first visit, 30 years ago. As newlyweds, they explored the tranquil village and its surroundings on rented bicycles, planting the seeds of a deep connection that would flourish over the years.
Through countless hikes and return visits, McGregor’s unique charm and its people continually drew them back. A profound full-circle moment arrived in the early 2000s when Amelia and Jan attended a Leadership course, hosted within the very walls of The Old School itself (then known as Die Kampterrein). Many years later, in 2021, when their eldest daughter began teaching at McGregor’s Waldorf School, their visits became more frequent, and by beautiful synchronicity, this very property crossed their path once more.
For Amelia and Jan, The Old School McGregor represents more than just accommodation; it is a manifestation of a deeply held belief in being a life-long learner. This enduring theme resonates profoundly with them, shaping every aspect of the space. Here, they envision a unique sanctuary where people can genuinely come together, share the tranquility, find inspiration to create and celebrate, and wholeheartedly embrace the beautiful simplicity of small-town life.

COMMUNITY
The McGregor Wisdom School
The Old School shares the building and the spacious grounds with the McGregor Wisdom School. The Wisdom School came into being in 2021 as a collective that wishes to use the heritage school property as a focus for conferencing, collaboration and conversations. The spaces includes a 100 seater hall and two open classrooms , ideal for workshops and retreats.

Temenos
Temenos is a landmark set in a gorgeous garden in the centre of town. It is a place of stillness and simplicity where you can reconnect with your soul. This wonderful retreat centre is a unique place for practicing mindfulness and contemplation.
